Ross County shall continue the search for their first victory of the Scottish Premiership on Saturday when they welcome St. Mirren to Victoria Park. The home side will face a tough test from the visitors, who are currently unbeaten in their last five matches. Ross County have yet to win this season and they faced back to back losses after a 1-0 loss away at Dundee United. Travelling St. Mirren find themselves in a much better position with a five-match unbeaten streak turning from three straights draws into back-to-back wins over Aberdeen and Livingston.
The Staggies have played eight games in the league so far and have lost five of these games. They currently sit in second last position in the league table with only three points. Their most recent defeat came against Dundee United before the international break. Most of the losses for Ross County have not been by a huge margin apart from the Celtic and Hibernian games.
The above visual shows us the expected threat creations zones for Ross County’s most recent game against Dundee United. The Staggies put up a strong effort against Dundee United in their most recent outing, suffering a narrow 1-0 loss, but defensively the squad have not been tight enough so far. They created more chances from the right flank as they were most threatening from this side of the pitch. Ross County failed to capitalise on the chances that they created in the game.
After a disappointing start to their season with only one point from three games, St Mirren have now won back to back games and have moved up the Scottish Premiership table. They are currently on 10 points and sit in seventh position on the table. They got their season back on track after a 6-0 hammering by Celtic, after which they secured three draws and have now won six points from two games.
Scott Tanser has a high overall expected threat from the dribbles and passes that he has attempted in the eight games he has played so far. Tanser plays in the left-back position for St Mirren. The full-back has played a huge role in the attacks that St. Mirren have constructed in the league. He has provided two assists so far for the Buddies.
St Mirren have conceded 14 goals so far in the league so far. But they have conceded only four goals in their last five games which is not that bad considering they secured a positive result from these games. They have the highest number of successful aerial duels and also average most successful duels per 90 minutes. Their defensive performances have improved gradually moving into the season and will be a tough unit to break from set-pieces and long balls.
Ross County predicted starting lineup:
Maynard-Brewer, Clarke, Baldwin, Lacovitti, Burroughs, Spittal, Paton, Tillson, Charles-Cook, Hungbo, Samuel.
St. Mirren predicted starting lineup:
Alnwick, Fraser, McCarthy, Shaughnessy, Millar, Power, Erhahon, Tanser, Ronan, McGrath, Brophy.
Ross County have been coming close to getting all three points in their last two games, but have failed to do so because of fine margins. They will be looking to get their first win on Saturday, but it won’t be an easy task as St. Mirren themselves have been in top form and will look to extend their unbeaten run to six games.
