St. Mirren has had a respectable 2022–23 season thus far, and under Stephen Robinson they are currently seventh in the Scottish Premiership standings with 21 points from 15 games.

Outside of Celtic and Rangers, the Buddies have the division’s best home record with 18 points from nine games played at the SMISA Stadium.

St Mirren was scheduled to play Motherwell at Fir Park over the past weekend. But because of widespread flooding, the game had to be abandoned and postponed.

In terms of their divisional rivals, St. Mirren do now have one or two games remaining, which may be helpful later on in the campaign when chasing results.

Nevertheless, all attention will turn towards the challenge of Aberdeen now for St Mirren in what is sure to be an intriguing battle between two entertaining teams.

This weekend, Jim Goodwin will visit his old team St. Mirren in an effort to bounce back from two consecutive losses to Celtic and Rangers at Pittodrie.

The Dons manager was frustrated because his team came so close to defeating both teams before giving up victories in the 87th and 97th minutes, respectively, to Celtic and Rangers in midweek.

But in 2022–23, Aberdeen significantly improved under his leadership, and going into this weekend, they hold third place in the Scottish Premiership.

Their goal total has stood out in particular because Aberdeen has scored 31 league goals so far this season, the most in the division outside of Celtic and Rangers.

Moving ahead to Saturday, Goodwin will hope his side can continue to be clinical in front of goal as they aim to strengthen their grip on third position.
